Dalat, the city of Eternal Spring, is the main city of Lam Dong province in the Central highlands of Vietnam, some 300 km north of Ho Chi Minh city. Lakes, waterfalls, forests and gardens surround the town and most tourists spend their time exploring the beautiful countryside by foot, motorbike or bicycle. The cool climate and the scenic environment make Dalat a good option for escaping the heat of South Vietnam. Dalat is the country’s most popular honeymoon spot, and at any time of the year, but particularly in the spring, visitors will see newlyweds at Dalat's various attractions. Dalat is also home to several ethnic hill tribes, who originally gave Dalat its name. Activities in Dalat include a stroll around the Xuan Huong lake (or better yet, a trip around the lakes by paddle boats) and visits to some of the nearby waterfalls. Other attractions include the Dalat flower garden, the “Crazy House”, Bao Dai’s Summer Palace, a trip on the Cremaillere Railway Station, and the "Valley of Love" park. Dalat is in the temperate region and has pleasant weather year-round, even sunny during much of the rainy season. The dry season lasting from November to March, and the rainy season from April to November. During the winter months, the average temperature is 10 C while during summer it is around 20 C. Ideal weather is from November to March, when the air is fresh and cool.
